Abstract:

During October and November 1966, propagation measurements were made on two-line-of-sight paths between the islands of Maui and Hawaii, utilizing paths of a nominal 1-ns width at a carrier frequency of approximately 9 GHz. Prime objective was to determine the effects of atmospheric turbulence and multipath on pulse distortion. The principal results from the data analyzed so far are the existence of pulse broadening, one qualitative observation of pulse splitting, and the absence of delayed secondary pulses. Indications are that pulse width distortions of the order of 10 percent are present.
