Abstract: Near-zone field strengths are calculated both on axis and on a grid behind the high power electronically steerable HF radar array to be erected near Platteville, Colorado. These calculations and measurements of the shielding effectiveness of the building are used to establish an array-to-building spacing sufficient to insure personnel safety and to see if dangerous levels may be encountered on adjoining properties within the scan sector of the array.
